Summary: The Public Safety Dispatch Trainer is responsible for training personnel and for all job tasks associated with initiating emergency and non-emergency response to include answering emergency and non-emergency calls, providing instructions, responding to, and dispatching personnel, responding to general requests for assistance and information, and maintaining critical records.
***Retention Bonus: $2000******Pay Range: $29.84-$39.26*** Applicants are required to be eligible to lawfully work in the United States immediately. This position is not available for H1-B visa sponsorship. This is a designated Essential Employee position, whose attendance is required to maintain agency operations during an emergency or inclement weather situation.
Responsibilities: - Instructs, trains, mentors, and develops new employees. Training includes, but is not limited to, all the duties of safety operations specialists and licensed telecommunicators.
- Provides feedback and documentation of trainee's progress and maintains trainee's file.
- Makes recommendations regarding the status of trainees during each training phase.
- Researches, develops, and implements training programs; ensures compliance with
- policies and procedures of the Safety Operations Center, the NTTA and the State of Texas.
- Develop and conduct training classes for continuing education, policy and procedure updates, or other training as determine by management.
- Maintains training records as necessary or required by NTTA, the State of Texas, and the Safety Operations Center
- Perform the duties of a Safety Operations Center Specialist II as needed.
- Maintains the integrity, professionalism, values, and goals of the Safety Operations Center by assuring that all guidelines and policies are followed, and that accountability and public trust are preserved.
- In the absence of a supervisor and team lead, this position will be expected to oversee the operations of the shift.
Qualifications: Minimum:
- High School diploma (or GED)
- 6-months/1-year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.
- Three years of prior 911 Public Safety dispatching, or three years in the Safety Operations Center Command Center as a SOCSS II, or a combination of the two, totaling 3 years, with a minimum of one of those years as a SOCSS II.
- Proof of US Citizenship - Original certified copy of your birth certificate (no photocopy) or original certified copy of your Naturalization papers (no photocopy).
- Must pass a job-related medical examination including a drug screen, psychological exam; have vision correctable to 20/40 and have normal color vision and normal hearing registered at 500-4000 Hertz set at 20db.
- Must demonstrate a state of physical and mental health consistent with the ability to perform assigned duties.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain TCIC/NCIC, NLETS/TLETS and Security Awareness certifications.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all requirements for a Licensed Telecommunicator in Texas.
- Required to have passed a typing test which shows a typing proficiency of at least 35 wpm.
