Job Description
OVERVIEW: The Janitor position works under the supervision of the Shelter Director to assist in cleanliness for the Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Ensure floors remain clear of all tripping and other hazards
- Maintain and ensure all floors are clean, swept, mopped, and/or vacuumed
- Maintain and ensure all restrooms are clean
- Clean designated building areas
- Perform and document routine inspection
- Follow all health, safety regulations, and chemical storage and hygiene best practices
- Empty trash receptacles, recycling and compost bins
- Ensure unused areas of the building are locked for safety and security
- Other related duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- Experience in janitorial
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: - Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
EQUIPMENT USED: - Modern Office Equipment and Relevant Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
