Job Description

We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic Engineer In Training to support our Southwest Region located in Texas .

What you'll be doing:

• Contributes to the preparation or modification of reports, plans and designs for projects
• Assists in the preparation of project quantity and cost estimates
• Participate in the collection and analysis of data and preparation of satisfactory designs
• Perform design calculations and conduct investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks, and direct preparation of design specifications
• Perform quantity estimates, detailing and check calculations and drawings
• Organize scheduling of specific tasks and assignments
• Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
• Previous internship/co-op experience in transportation and municipal design desired
• 2-4 years of experience
• EIT certification is required
• Experience with OpenRoads Designer is highly preferred
• Previous experience with TxDOT preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
• If applicable to the position, a post offer fit for duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
• Valid driver's license
• A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
