Overview

Site Directors lead dynamic summer camps for K8th grade, serving as both site General Managers and the public face of the organization. Under the direction of a Field Program Manager you will open and operate a Camp Galileo location serving campers and their families within your community.

Core Responsibilities
  • Infuse camp with joy, tradition, and creativity. Build an inclusive environment where every camper, staff member, and family feels seen, supported, and inspired.
  • Own every aspect of your camps launch from preseason planning through end-of-summer wrap?up. Oversee daily operations and parent communication to deliver an exceptional program.
  • Prioritize camper safety and family trust at all times. Anticipate needs, adapt quickly, and problem?solve on the fly to keep camp running smoothly.
  • Train and mentor a staff of 1040. Provide clear expectations, ongoing feedback, and professional development while handling core management duties such as staffing, scheduling, and payroll.
  • Use the Galileo Innovation Approach (GIA) to encourage curiosity and problem?solving. Lead your team in turning challenges into opportunities while aligning operations with Galileos mission.
  • Serve as the primary face of camp. Communicate proactively with families, facilities partners, HQ support teams, collaborate with your Field Program Manager, and cultivate trust with community partners and campers.
Location & Work Schedule

Seasonal role running FebruarySeptember 2026. Exact dates vary by hire date and camp operations:

  • Phase One: Training & Prep (FebJune/July): Up to 15 hrs per week, mostly flexible and remote with some required in?person commitments.
  • Phase Two: On?Site (JuneAugust): 7?AM6?PM (M?F), averaging 45+ hrs per week over 58 weeks.
  • Phase Three: Wrap?Up (AugSept): Up to 5 hrs total, remote for final admin tasks and staff reviews.
Compensation
  • Preseason (FebJune): Hourly pay ($23/hour).
  • Camp Season (JuneAug): Weekly salary ($1,550/week).
  • Postseason (AugSept): Hourly pay ($23/hour).
  • Bonus/Commission: $1 per camper?week enrollment plus potential commission for add?on weeks.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience working in education/child development (K?8 preferred) or related coursework.
  • 1+ year of team management and coaching experience or supervisory experience.
  • Availability for part?time remote work starting Feb 2025, and full?time on?site work starting June 2025.
  • Willingness to travel in the region up to 3 in?person marketing events during preseason.
  • Flexibility to adapt and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to complete all required state certifications before camp starts.
Additional Information

Physical demands include occasional lifting up to 30?lbs, constant computer operation, and frequent stationary periods.
