*Print Operator*

*Birmingham, Alabama*

*6 month contract to hire*

*Position Summary*

The Print Operator is responsible for managing all in-house print operations to support Protectives daily business activities. This role ensures the quality and timely distribution of printed materials to internal and external stakeholders, including application developers and the mailroom. The Print Operator also performs routine maintenance on print equipment and coordinates with vendors for more complex service needs. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

*Key Responsibilities*

*Print Operations*

* Set up and operate digital printers and production equipment according to specifications.
* Receive, process, and manage print orders from mainframe systems, departments, and individuals.
* Prioritize tasks based on customer needs, workload, and machine capabilities.
* Process PDF files received via FTP, email, delivery, or walk-in.
* Locate, validate, and upload production files.
* Estimate, schedule, and track production jobs; escalate unmet requests to the team lead.
* Track and report wasted impressions.

*Quality Assurance*

* Complete daily quality control logs.
* Accurately document voided checks.
* Inspect finished work for clarity, alignment, resolution, and overall quality.

*Maintenance & Organization*

* Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on print equipment.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment.

*Inventory Management*

* Monitor and maintain adequate stock of paper and forms.
* Retrieve and load appropriate stock for print jobs.
* Notify the team lead when supplies fall below specified thresholds.

*Qualifications*

* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
* Experience in digital and print production environments preferred.
* Familiarity with Xerox Nuvera printers is a plus.

* Physically active role requiring standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Pay: Up to $15.00 per hour
