Job Description

Join the Navy as a part-time physician and serve your country while advancing your medical career! This opportunity allows you to work without relocating. As a Navy commissioned physician, you will provide care to service members and their families, similar to a civilian doctor, but with unique benefits and experiences. Enjoy an accelerated career track with opportunities in humanitarian efforts both stateside and globally.

As a Navy physician, you will work at top military medical facilities utilizing advanced technology and training that may not be available in the civilian sector. Enjoy a practice free from the business burdens of private practice, such as malpractice insurance and office management. Benefits of being a Navy physician include:

  • Competitive compensation within a thriving practice.
  • Manageable patient ratios, allowing for high-quality, one-on-one care.
  • Hands-on experience and advanced training funded by the Navy.
  • A flexible schedule that provides ample time for family and personal activities.

As an Officer in the Navy Medical Corps, you will:

  • Provide comprehensive medical care to Sailors, Marines, service members, and their families.
  • Work alongside top healthcare professionals in a respected Navy healthcare team.
  • Collaborate with military doctors and healthcare officers, and engage with organizations such as FEMA and USAID.
  • Have the opportunity to lead and gain experience that is invaluable to your future career.

This part-time position as a Reservist allows you to carry out your duties during scheduled drilling and training periods, usually near your home. During monthly drilling, you can continue your civilian practice while gaining medical experience. Annual training may be at sea, in hospitals, or military bases around the world.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Repayment of qualified education loans up to three years while serving.
  • Access to the Post 9/11 GI Bill (transfer benefits to family members).
  • Comprehensive medical and dental care for you and your family at no or low cost.
  • Earn 30 days of paid vacation annually.
  • Access to numerous recreational activities and discounts with your military ID.
  • Utilize the VA Home Loan program and other military discounts.
  • Participate in the Uniformed Services Blended Retirement System.
  • Receive specialized training to become a leader in medicine.
  • Work one weekend a month, with flexible drill options to accommodate surgical rotations.

Job Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited U.S. medical school; foreign graduates may apply with an ECFMG certificate.
  • Current medical license in the U.S., D.C., or Puerto Rico.
  • Eligibility for board certification.
  • Completion of at least one year of approved graduate medical education internship.
  • Aged between 21 and 42 (waivers available case-by-case up to age 68).
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Application Process: If you are in the Inactive Ready Reserve or have been off active duty for over six months, connect with a Navy Officer Recruiter to begin your application.
