JUNIOR / PACKAGING DESIGNER (New York, NY)

Our client, a Premier Packaging Design Agency with offices in New York, NY, is looking to add to staff an experienced Junior / Packaging or Industrial Designer starting ASAP. This role will be ON-SITE, so candidates from the New York Metropolitan area will be considered. In this role, we're looking for a Designer with at least 1-3 years of graphic, packaging, or structural experience. Must have interest in retail, product development, and have a passion for all things packaging related. Looking for a candidate who is motivated, detail oriented/organized, and have a great working attitude and work ethics. Ideal candidate must be able to work well with others and under pressure meeting tight deadlines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work on a wide range of projects from custom packaging to graphic
• Able to conceptualize package designs, create and present prototypes and mock-ups for internal
• Generate packaging die-lines and templates that meet brand specifications and
• Generate and update design files with detailed dimensions and material
• Brainstorming packaging ideas using hand sketches, verbal cues, words, and design
• Have an understanding of structures and variables that may affect the structural integrity and overall design of a
• Generate ORFs and blank dielines for new packaging inquiry
• Generate and update design files with detailed dimensions and material information
• Send out design files for development and communicate with Accounts and Production team
• Check pre-production/ final production samples and address any product issues or challenges in a timely manner
• Have a strong understanding of current market trends, client’s needs and new materials/ technologies that can be used in packaging design.
• Strong eye for design, page composition and layout, typography, and colour theory

• Assist Design Team and Design Director on daily
• Always a productive participant looking for ways to improve or propose solutions to existing processes or structure
• Proofread and revise designs for errors

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, graphic design, art, or a similar field with at least 1-3 years of graphic, packaging, or structural experience
• Ability to create initial specs and generate design files
• Knowledgeable with the product development process
• Quick learner with ability to take direction
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite/ Rhino/ Keyshot/ Microsoft Office
• Be able to multi-task and work in a team environment
• Pay strong attention to detail

• Experience with market research and familiarity with various packaging material
• Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written, verbal communication skills, and work ethic
