Summary:

To succeed as an apprentice, you should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. Outstanding apprentices respond well to feedback, build strong relationships, and leave a lasting impression. A growth mindset and passion for learning are essential.

Essential Functions:

• Assists in operating and maintaining production equipment, including performing welding tasks as needed using MIG, TIG, and stick welding processes.
• Assists in testing and adjusting equipment.
• Keeps a maintenance log for every machine.
• Maintains extra stock of machine parts to minimize down times at the production plants.
• Assists in performing regular scheduled maintenance to production machines following company safety standards at all times.
• Assists in repairing machines during production emergencies and down times, safely and as quickly as possible.
• Regular maintenance tasks and checking safety issues.
• Provide onsite plumbing assistance.

Physical Demands:

• Frequent bending, twisting and lifting.
• Occasional kneeling.
• Ability to lift unassisted 30 - 50 lbs at a time.
• Working standing for prolonged periods of time.
• Ability to move in very narrow spaces.
• Working in a warm environment with flour dust.
• Working in a loud production environment.
• Occasionally working extended shifts.
• Exposure to loud noises.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

• Ability to communicate in a clear manner and follow specific instructions.
• Able to read, write and fill out reports related to maintenance issues.
• Able to concentrate and work well under pressure.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic arithmetic skills.
• Ability to work, relate and guide others.
• Ability to follow and implement safety guidelines.
• Well organized.
• Will be required to work night, weekend, and overnight shifts.
• Basic understanding of industrial mechanical systems, including chains, sprockets, and gearboxes and a willingness to learn more.
