The Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant provides patient treatment as directed by a licensed physical therapist to treat or restore patients to their maximum functional performance level. Practices within physical therapy licensure guidelines Identifies and resolves unusual customer service issues Trains staff, hospice, acute care, outpatient rehab and home health in specialty services Provides one in-service annually to staff Under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, administers physical therapy treatments appropriate to diagnosis and to APTA guidelines Leads, communicates and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to plan patient care Appropriately documents and synchronizes patient care according to federal, state, and local regulations Uses resources (e.g., time, people, supplies, etc.) cost effectively Protects patients, employees, and visitors by promoting infection-control and safety policies and protocols Meets productivity standards Adheres to National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG) Participates in performance improvement initiatives affecting patient outcomes Ensures appropriate patient and/or caregiver education with utilization of applicable resources Identifies personal contributions to department cascading goals Engages in own professional development as evidenced by self assessment and attainment of degrees, certifications, and continuing education Contributes to providing a supportive environment that is conducive to learning for all students from all academic programs Other duties as assigned Required Education: Physical Therapy Assistant Program Required Experience: One (1) year of experience in physical therapy field Required Certifications and Licensures: Licensed by the Virginia Board of Physical Therapy
