The University of Miami Health (UHealth) System IT Department has an opportunity for a full-time IT Security Associate to work in Miami in the University's 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). The IT Security Associate - Central serves as part of the University's 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC). This role is designed for individuals at the beginning of their cybersecurity career who are eager to learn and grow under the guidance of experienced analysts. The Associate assists in monitoring, investigating, and responding to security incidents while gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Core Responsibilities: Monitors security alerts and events from SIEM and other security tools. Assists with initial triage and analysis of security incidents. Escalates confirmed or high-risk threats to senior analysts or incident response teams. Documents incidents, investigations, and response actions in ticketing systems. Assists in tuning detection rules and improving alert fidelity. Supports vulnerability management and threat intelligence initiatives. Participates in shift rotations, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Maintains awareness of current threat landscape and attack techniques. Follows established playbooks and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Contributes to continuous improvement of SOC processes and documentation. Assists with access verification and identity management tasks, including password resets. Operates in a 24/7 environment; shift work is required. Participates in on-call rotations or emergency response as needed. Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Core Qualifications: Associates degree in relevant field Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form Learning Agility: Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and protocols, and adapt to changing priorities and work demands. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications. Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
