To further this important mission, we are seeking a Head of Corporate Accounting, reporting directly to our Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). The Head of Corporate Accounting serves as a key member of the controllership leadership team overseeing Accounting Policy, Financial Reporting, M&A accounting, and general accounting.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a high growth technology or regulated public company accounting team, with knowledge of operating in a large scale, data heavy, dynamic environment. They will be a leader who will build and develop a team that can scale quickly and efficiently, and who conveys the energy and credibility to accomplish our goals.

You will:

• Partner with the CAO and leadership to identify and execute key accounting and operations initiatives, help implement and improve processes and controls, and help the company achieve its long term financial goals.
• Lead the Financial Reporting, Technical Accounting, and Close/Consolidation/GL teams at Stripe and help them develop into world class functions.
• Be an acknowledged technical accounting expert. You will be a resource for the accounting, finance and legal teams, as well as the leadership team in advising the company on relevant accounting guidance.
• Be knowledgeable about operating in a heavily regulated finance environment, responsible for maintaining compliance with all reporting deadlines and other accounting related compliance obligations.
• Be familiar with all of the controls and processes needed to operate in a public company environment.
• Be an expert with developing complex finance systems on a very large scale, working directly with internal systems and engineering teams to design, build and implement accounting automation at scale and develop efficiency and scalability across all relevant accounting areas.
• Be a great manager and mentor to a large and fast growing accounting group at Stripe.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification or equivalent with a minimum of eight years in public accounting.
• 8+ years of experience in a senior accounting position in a regulated public company environment.
• Previous experience managing finance and accounting functions at scale in a hyper growth environment.
• Experience navigating through complex technical accounting concepts and a proven track record in thought leadership in technical accounting.
• Exceptional business acumen and the proven ability to mentor and lead teams that have implemented large scale finance process implementations and improvements.
