Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer

Position Summary:

The EHS Supervisor is responsible for implementing, managing, and improving environmental, health, and safety programs within an industrial manufacturing environment. This role ensures regulatory compliance, drives safety culture, manages risk, and supports employee training and development initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement site-wide policies and procedures to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct internal audits, inspections, and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate compliance issues.
  • Lead or support investigations into EHS incidents or violations, and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
  • Maintain compliance documentation and prepare regulatory filings as required by federal, state, or local agencies.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices; recommend necessary adjustments to policies or procedures.
  • Align site-specific EHS goals and action plans with broader corporate objectives; track progress and adjust plans as needed.
  • Lead and support the delivery of technical and safety-related training programs for operations and maintenance staff.
  • Maintain training records and ensure alignment with organizational development initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external consultants to optimize training resources and compliance initiatives.
  • May supervise EHS staff, providing coaching, feedback, and development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with plant management to foster a proactive safety culture and improve operational performance.
  • Perform additional duties or special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in an EHS role (preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting).
  • Strong understanding of EHS regulations and risk management practices.
  • EHS certifications (e.g., OSHA, CSP, CIH) are a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and track EHS plans and performance metrics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work across all organizational levels.
  • Capable of coaching, giving constructive feedback, and developing team members.
  • Strong organizational and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to facilitate training sessions and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Proficiency in using systems for tracking compliance and training records (e.g., PeopleSoft, LMS platforms).
