Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) Governance Specialist - USDS We are seeking a technically proficient Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) Governance Specialist to join our Privacy & Integrated Security team. This is a hands-on technical role within our oversight and governance function, dedicated to establishing and executing a robust DLM-Governance framework. The ideal candidate will contribute to the Data Privacy & Protection pillar within our privacy program and leverage our global DLM-Governance framework to perform technical verification activities, such as data sampling and data sharing audits, to ensure our policies are correctly implemented in our operational environment. Responsibilities Establish and grow USDS DLM-Governance capabilities. Under the guidance of global privacy teams, leverage the global framework, conduct gap analyses, design and implement USDS DLM-governance capabilities, including defining verification methodologies, reporting mechanisms, and a regular cadence for data sampling and auditing. Conduct DLM-governance activities through hands-on technical verification and execution, including: Data sampling from servers and services to verify privacy-related data handling. Auditing and verifying data sharing practices for compliance with global policies. Analyzing data retention, deletion, and validation controls at the data-layer level. Be a strategic partner and contribute to the global DLM-Governance framework by leveraging USDS insights to define and refine requirements for new DLM solution services. Provide leadership to USDS operating teams as the DLM technical subject matter expert and guidance provider. Collaborate with USDS privacy team members to translate architectural and process-level risks into data-level verification activities. Engage in special projects and expand responsibilities as the team evolves. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience. 5+ years in a technical role with strong understanding of data lifecycles, data models, systems, security & privacy tooling, and database technologies. Proficiency in data analysis and scripting/query languages to perform data sampling and verification. Knowledge of major privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in technical verification. Ability to navigate ambiguity within a large, complex organization. Preferred Qualifications Professional privacy certifications (e.g., CIPT, CIPP/E, CDPSE). Experience in a large organization with centralized privacy governance. Experience with scripting languages (SQL, Python) for data analysis and automation. Ability to work independently and communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders. Compensation and Benefits The base salary range for this position is $118,800 – $196,000 annually, with variations based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is part of Total Package and may include discretionary bonuses, incentives, and RSUs.
