Our facility has an immediate need for an experienced Billing Specialist who is familiar with insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid. Most of our patients are mostly youths and young adults. We file insurance claims on behalf of our patients and we work with patients and their families on payment plans and other arrangements to ease the financial burden. The ideal candidate will be compassionate and naturally helpful, willing to work a problem to its successful conclusion. Previous experience in mental health and substance abuse facilities preferred.

Responsibilities and duties

1. Submit reimbursement requests to Medicare and Medicaid
2. Process insurance claims for private and employer insurance reimbursement
3. Work with patients to develop self-pay arrangements and payment plans
4. Enter charges accurately and expeditiously to ensure proper records handling and fast payment responses
5. Process and follow up on payer denials, consulting with the patient and/or his or her family as needed
6. Post payments in a timely manner
7. Initiate private pay collections after insurance cancellation, denial or other issue
8. Research and resolve client billing problems or issues
9. Assist patients and their families with applying for CareCredit and other financial solutions
10. Document payment records and issues as they occur

1. High school diploma/GED required (College degree preferred)
2. Experience with medical billing and coding, preferably in a skilled nursing environment
3. Excellent customer service skills and phone manner
4. Ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment
5. Strong knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid practices
