Overview Join to apply for the Art and Art History Lecturer Pool - History of Modern Architecture role at San José State University. Responsibilities Teach upper-division undergraduate survey courses focusing on the History of Contemporary and New Media Art since 1960. Possibly teach lower-division General Education courses in Art History and Visual Culture. Contribute to a dynamic department that encourages cross-disciplinary practice between studio art and contemporary art criticism. Engage with recent debates in new media and contemporary art practices. Address the needs of a diverse student population using appropriate course materials, teaching strategies, and advisement. Participate in 1-2 faculty meetings per semester and provide assessment data and information to the department. Qualifications Ph.D. in art history or an equivalent field and university-level teaching experience. Strong writing skills and an ability to direct and assess student writing. Scholarly engagement in the area of design history as evidenced by presentations and publications. Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population and cross-cultural experiences. Compensation Compensation and salary range placement are determined by qualifications and experience. See University Policy S21-2 for details. Anticipated Starting Salary L-A / Range 2 - $5,507 to $5,959 per month L-B / Range 3 - $6,221 to $7,481 per month L-C / Range 4 - $6,825 to $9,431 per month L-D / Range 5 - $8,593 to $10,347 per month Note: Range salaries are for full-time academic year (AY) positions; part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester. Conditional Offer: The work for this faculty position is located in California and requires commuting to campus. Employment is contingent upon proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Appointment is contingent upon budget and enrollment considerations and subject to the collective bargaining agreement and assignment provisions between the CSU and the California Faculty Association.
